Shiv Sena delegation meets with Maha DGP and requests help in finding the "real" perpetrators of the

A video that went popular on social media showed a mob encircling Samant's car while it was being damaged in Pune on Tuesday night and yelling threats.

A team from the Shiv Sena met with Rajnish Seth, the director general of police in Maharashtra, on Thursday and requested that he identify the "true" perpetrators of the attack on dissident MLA and former state minister Uday Samant. On Tuesday night, Samant's automobile was attacked in Pune. A video of the incident quickly became popular on social media and showed a crowd surrounding the car while yelling abuse.

Sanjay More, the head of the Sena's Pune city section, and Baban Thorat, the organization's leader in Hingoli, are among the five people the police have so far detained. According to police, Thorat, who was apprehended in Mumbai, is suspected of encouraging Shiv Sena members to attack the vehicles of dissident lawmakers. Until August 6, they have been held in police custody.

"You don't see anyone holding a weapon, yet a bogus report has been made anyway. They (the party workers) are being held against their will. After speaking with DGP Seth, Sena spokesperson Arvind Sawant told the media that they were not even there at the scene. Other Uddhav Thackeray faction leaders including MLCs Sachin Ahir and Manisha Kayande, Sena secretary Vinayak Raut, and the Deputy Chairperson of the Legislative Council, Neelam Gorhe, were with Sawant.

Sena chief Subhash Desai described the incident as a "spontaneous" response against "traitors" on Wednesday. I'm against violence. Nobody should use the law as a weapon and commit such mischief. But these are people's irrational responses. According to Desai, a minister in the previous Thackeray administration, "If someone betrays and then roams freely, then not just Shiv Sena workers but even the regular people of Maharashtra don't like that."

Additionally, the delegation informed the DGP that Sena employees were being harassed and attacked throughout the state and asked for police assistance.
