After Mohamed Bayo was spotted clubbing the night before the weekend's humiliating loss to Paris Saint-Germain, Lille kicked him off their first-team roster and fined him 75,000 euros ($74,400), a source close to the club told AFP on Monday.
Photos of the 24-year-old in a Lille nightclub on the night of the loss surfaced on social media before of Sunday's matchup with Ligue 1 leaders PSG.
Bayo will now train with Lille's second team, who compete in France's fifth tier after manager Paulo Fonseca did not even select him for the bench as Lille was humiliated 7-1.
"We were really irritated, even enraged, at this behavior, which to us is intolerable," the coach said.
For "driving while intoxicated" and "involuntary injuries," a Clermont court gave Bayo a two-month suspended sentence in April.
