Mary J. Blige Will Executive Produce The Movie "Real Love"

A Lifetime movie based on Mary J. Blige's legendary 1990 song "Real Love"

The popular 1990s song "Real Love" by American singer-songwriter Mary J. Blige will be converted into a Lifetime movie, with the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul serving as executive producer.

According to Variety, "Real Love," one of Blige's most cherished and unforgettable songs, was her first single to reach the Top 10 and was awarded a gold certification two months after its 1992 release.

In the coming-of-age romance movie "Real Love," Kendra, who is determined to concentrate on her academics, travels alone for the first time to a college in upstate New York. But she makes a concerted effort to act professionally when she meets Ben, her classmate in the film class.

Ben and Kendra discover themselves falling deeply in love with one another despite their parents' disapproval, their financial situation, and the competition for first place in their class. In the end, they discover what true love is all about.

As part of Blige and her Blue Butterfly production company's mission to "bring more tales to life with the song as the basis," additional music from Blige will be featured throughout the film.

According to Variety, Sonja Warfield and Rachel Ingram will pen the script for Lifetime's "Real Love." The film will be released by Sony Pictures Television and executive produced by Blige, Ashaunna Ayars, and Nicole Jackson for Blue Butterfly and Jordan and John Davis for Davis Entertainment.
