Maharashtra Latur District Congress Setback To BJP In Parcham Nagar Panchayat Elections
Aurangabad, Jan 19 (PTI) The Congress secured a majority in Maharastra Latur district election results for four Nagar panchayats and three Nagar panchayats in Nanded, declared on Wednesday.
Big blow to BJP from Maharashtra
The BJP has suffered a major setback in the Nagar panchayat elections in Maharashtra. At the same time, the results released on Wednesday have brought much good news for Congress. It has been told that Congress has got a majority in the election results of four Nagar panchayats of Latur district and three Nagar panchayats of Nanded.
Congress got a majority on so many seats
Congress secured an absolute majority after winning all 17 seats in Naigaon Nagar panchayat and 10 out of 17 in Ardhapur. The BJP won two seats in Ardhapur, The official said. In Mahur Nagar panchayat, six out of 17 seats were won by the Congress, seven by the Nationalist Congress Party, and three by the shiv sena. BJP won one seat.
Voting took place in 68 seats in Latur
In Latur, polling was held on 68 seats in four nadar panchayats(17seats each).In Latur, BJP and NCP won 14 seats each. But Congress got the maximum of 23 seats, Shiv Sena and prahar got six seats each. Independent candidates won four seats.
In Maharashtra Maha Vikas Aghadi government, Medical Education Minister Amit Deshmukh and former Chief Minister Ashok Chavan represent Latur and Nander respectively. Deshmukh and Chavan are both Congress MLAs.
