As energy costs increase this year, school administrators have expressed concerns about an ever-more perilous budget scenario.


Concerned that hunger will be the "single biggest obstacle" as kids return to school in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, teachers and charities have urged the government to implement universal free school meals. The Joseph Rowntree Foundation issued a warning that the cost-of-living problem might have a "devastating" effect on the attainment gap in Scotland, where the fall semester started two weeks ago.
