On Monday, former Borussia Dortmund head coach Lucien Favre was named Nice's manager to take over for Christophe Galtier, who is in negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain.
In a statement, OGC Nice stated that "Christophe Galtier is no longer in command of OGC Nice's first team."
The Nice team was returning from a summer vacation while Favre, a 64-year-old Swiss who has been without a club since being sacked by Dortmund in December 2020, oversaw the practice.
Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the president of PSG, announced last week that the club, which is controlled by Qatar, was in talks with Galtier about succeeding Mauricio Pochettino.
Al-Khelaifi denied that the team had contacted Zinedine Zidane.
Before moving to Nice in 2021, Galtier won the French league championship with Lille, guiding the south coast team to fifth place.
