Islamic State Leader Abu Ibrahim Killed In US Raid

Islamic State leader Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al- Qureshi was killed in a US raid

How the US killed the dreaded ISIS chief al-Qureshi

Late night in Syria the US Special Forces killed Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al- Qureshi the head of the Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Quraishi took over the reins of the terrorist organization on 31 October 2019 after Abu Bakr al- Baghdadi was killed in a US attack in the same area. Since then, he has been continuously playing a role in targeting American forces and civilians.

Who was Abu Ibrahim al- Quraishi?

Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Quraishi is the surname adopted by Emir Muhammad Saeed Abdal- Rahman al-mawla who became the leader of the Islamic state in 2019 following the death of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi in a US raid. He was born in 1976 in Mosul, no northern Iraq. But little was known about Al-Qureshi until September 2020. when it was revealed that he had been detained and interrogated by US forces in early 2008.

What difference did his death make to the Islamic State actively?

The campaign against al-Qureshi comes at a time when the Islamic State is passing through a state of uncertainty. Its journey from a group focused on Iraq to a global insurgent organization with allies spread across the Middle East, Africa and Asia is not too long. Recent Islamic State attacks on Hasaka prison in northeastern Syria and elsewhere across Iraq indicate that the group is perhaps more advanced than expected in re-establishing its capabilities on traditional targets.

What has been the effect of killing the heads of terrorist groups in the past?

Eliminating leadership-or the targeted killing of top leaders of terrorist groups is a major component of terrorism and counterintelligence. It is widely used by many countries including America. But terrorism experts do not agree on how effective it is to kill a top leader disrupts the operational efficiency of groups and disrupts their organizational routine, making it difficult for them to carry out attacks.
