Donald victory| In the Pennsylvania primary that is still up in the air,

The former president's demand for Oz to proclaim victory is a reflection of his own attempt to unseat President Joe Biden in Pennsylvania in the general election of 2020.

In a too-close-to-call Pennsylvania GOP Senate primary contest, former President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that Mehmet Oz should declare victory over rival Dave McCormick. He was reiterating his nefarious strategy from the 2020 presidential election that resulted in the deadly Capitol insurrection on January 6.

"Dr. Oz ought to congratulate himself. On Truth Social, the social media network he helped build, Trump stated that it makes it much more difficult for them to cheat with the ballots that they "just happened to locate."

In one of the most prominent elections of 2022, Oz, who Trump endorsed last month, and McCormick are still neck-and-neck in Pennsylvania, with just a few votes separating them as of Wednesday morning. Trump's Wednesday morning announcement was premature because thousands of votes and mail-in ballots still need to be counted, and the closeness of the election suggests that there may need to be a recount.

Trump's request that Oz declares victory is a reflection of his own attempt to unseat President Joe Biden in Pennsylvania in the general election of 2020. Trump declared himself the victor of the election before mail-in ballots had been tallied because he was ahead in the vote count on election night in Pennsylvania and other states. As more votes were counted over the following days, the then-president ultimately lost Pennsylvania and the election.

However, Trump has never accepted responsibility for his loss and has instead spread unfounded rumors that Pennsylvania and a few other crucial swing states were used to rig the election in his favor. Trump supporters stormed the White House in response to that collection of conspiracies, which his detractors frequently refer to as the "Big Lie." The Republican Party still uses the term "Big Lie," which led Trump supporters to assault the Capitol on January 6, 2021, to prevent congressional certification of Biden's Electoral College victory.
