Scottish Cycling | Days after winning a national race, a 37-year-old cycling champion passes away.

The winner of the Scottish MTB XC Championships on Sunday, Rab Wardell, experienced heart arrest and was unable to be saved, according to his partner.

Rab Wardell, a 37-year-old biker from Scotland, passed very suddenly on Tuesday following a heart arrest, according to his partner.

Katie Archibald, an Olympic medalist in track cycling, posted on social media on Wednesday that Wardell had a heart arrest on Tuesday morning as the pair was lying in bed.

She wrote, "I tried and tried to revive him, and the paramedics came within minutes, but his heart stopped. "Mine halted along with it. I need him here since I love him so much. I need him here, but he's already left. This pain is beyond words for me.
