Chris Rock Slap Leads To Will Smith's Jig, Selfies At Oscars Afterparty

At the Oscars 2022 ceremony, Will Smith smacked comedian Chris Rock for making a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith's hair.

After sparking the biggest scandal in the 94-year history of the Academy Awards and going on to win the Best Actor prize, actor Will Smith was seen having a great time at a post-Oscars party. Many celebs attended the after-party that Vanity Fair magazine hosted.

Videos on Twitter showed Will Smith taking pictures and dancing to the DJ's renditions of his songs "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It" and "Miami."

Serena and Venus Williams, Kendall Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Dakota Johnson, Kevin Costner, Chris Pine, Olivia Colman, and Natalie Portman were among the celebrities who attended the after-party.

At the party early on Monday morning at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills, the 55-year-old actor's wife Jada Pinkett Smith and their kids joined him. The celebration was held hours after comedian and Oscars host Chris Rock was attacked by Smith for making a joke about his wife's hair.

Smith was overheard screaming, "Keep my wife's name out of your f****** lips," when he went back to his seat after the outburst.

Due to the hair loss-causing disorder alopecia areata, Jada Pinkett Smith has shaved her head. In an interview for her talk show Red Table Talk, which debuted on Facebook Watch in 2018, she talked about her illness a few years ago.

After punching Rock, Smith apologized in a moving address, not to the comedian but the academy. "I'd want to express my regret to the Academy. All of my fellow nominees deserve my sincere apologies. I'm not sobbing because I won an award, but this is a great moment. For me, it's not about getting a prize. It's about being able to illuminate everyone, the actor remarked.

Following the incident, social media was swamped with comments, some of which defended Will Smith's actions and others demanded that he forfeit his Oscar. His family has been there for him.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Police Department reports that Rock has declined to make a police complaint (LAPD).
