Both Premier League clubs announced on Thursday that talented young midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka has joined Chelsea on a six-year deal from Aston Villa.
On Tuesday, the teams revealed that they had reached a transfer deal and that the England youth international had been granted the go-ahead to visit London and talk about personal matters.
Although the transfer's financial terms were not made public, British media outlets stated that the sale was worth 20 million pounds. 24.35 million dollars.
Chukwuemeka, 18, told Chelsea's website, "It's been fairly crazy but I couldn't get Chelsea out of my thoughts the last few days so I'm just delighted and relieved that it's all done."
"I really can't wait to go on the field, meet all the players, and attempt to win games and trophies with Chelsea. I'm extremely enthusiastic about it."
Chukwuemeka, who last month helped England win the Under-19 European Championship, is Chelsea's fourth acquisition during the current transfer season.
Raheem Sterling, an English forward, has joined Thomas Tuchel's team from Manchester City, while Kalidou Koulibaly, a Senegalese defender, has joined from Napoli.
Gabriel Slonina, a 16-year-old goalkeeper, was acquired by Chelsea on Tuesday, but the American will spend the 2022–23 season on loan at MLS team Chicago Fire.
On Saturday, Chelsea will play their league opener at Everton.
