Intel Corp | Biden to Attend the $20 billion Ohio Intel Plants' Groundbreaking

For its $20 billion Ohio facility, Intel Corp. has scheduled a Sept. 9 groundbreaking ceremony with President Joe Biden in attendance.

Ohio's COLUMBUS (AP) — President Joe Biden will be there as Intel Corp. officially breaks ground on its $20 billion Ohio semiconductor facilities on September 9th, the business and the White House said on Thursday.

The facility will employ 3,000 workers with an average pay of about $135,000 when the company's two fabs, also known as factories, operate in 2025. 7,000 construction workers are projected to be needed to complete the fabs.

According to Intel CEO Patrick Gelsinger, the total investment might reach $100 billion over the next ten years with six additional fabs. It's the biggest private economic development project Ohio has ever seen.

According to the White House, Biden will discuss "rebuilding American manufacturing" through recently passed policies that support the semiconductor industry and American infrastructure.

Ohio provided California-based Intel with over $2 billion in incentives, including a 30-year tax break, to secure the project. To expand the semiconductor sector locally and globally, Intel has proposed investing $150 million in educational support.
