At the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham on Thursday, the Indian team of Sanil Shetty and Reeth Tennison were eliminated from the mixed doubles table tennis competition.
In the round of 64 matches, the team lost to the Malaysian team of Wong Qi Shen and Tee Ai Xin by scores of 6-11, 10-12, 13-11, 11-8, and 8-11. Sanil and Reeth were taken off guard when they dropped the first two games, but they quickly recovered to win the following two and force a decider.
However, the Indians lost the championship game 8-11 and were eliminated. In the afternoon's round of 32 encounters, renowned paddlers Sathiyan Gnanasekaran and Manika Batra will compete against Crea Mick and Sinon Laura of Seychelles.
Achanta Sharath Kamal and Sreeja Akula will also compete in their round of 32 matches as they take against Northern Ireland's Own Cathcart and Sophie Early.
