After winning the ODI series 3-0, India dominated the T20I series against the West Indies by winning the first game of the five-match series by a commanding 68 runs. Since the World Cup last year, Rohit Sharma has led India to 12 victories in 13 T20 Internationals. Three of India's most seasoned cricketers, Dinesh Karthik, R Ashwin, and skipper Rohit himself, delivered outstanding performances to help the side take a 1-0 series lead. They were the match's architects.
Karthik and Ashwin discussed the match during a BCCI-organized interaction that they took part in after the game. But once the game ended, something happened that would warm your heart. Indian cricket players have historically acted in a variety of ways toward supporters. Some enjoy entertaining them, while others don't. Fortunately, it was the latter for those in attendance at Trinidad's Brian Lara Stadium.
Veteran journalist Vimal Kumar posted a video to his YouTube account that demonstrates how nice and cool Ashwin and Karthik were to the audience. When a fan asked DK for a selfie during Ashwin and Karthik's round, the seasoned India wicketkeeper-batsman complied.
What the fan did not anticipate, though, was that Ashwin would also show up and stand next to Karthik to get his photo taken. It should be noted that the fan did not ask Ashwin to participate; instead, it was the India spinner's graciousness that caused him to stand beside Karthik and hold up his phone so that a good photo could be taken.
Karthik scored an unbeaten 41 off 19 balls with four boundaries and two sixes, once again living up to his reputation as a finisher. Karthik's cameo helped India to a solid score of 190/6 after they lost several wickets in a row. Karthik has a history of providing India with crucial runs at the end of innings, and yesterday was no different. When Ashwin returned to the India T20Is, he picked up 2/22 from four overs while also scoring 13 runs off of 10 balls, including one six.
