A Brooklyn, New York-based product design studio is turning Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who has been battling a Russian invasion since February, into an action figure. Less than two weeks ago, FCTRY started a Kickstarter effort to raise money for their production. In just three hours, it reached its $30,000 funding target, and it has now raised more than $120,000. In the campaign, which closes on Friday, $1 is donated to Ukraine for each figurine purchased.
By Seattle artist Mike Leavitt, a 6-inch-15-cm tall clay prototype of the Zelenskiy action figure will be mass made in China from plastic. March is the anticipated shipping date.
The campaign frames him as "the improbable hero," according to Jason Feinberg, chief executive and creative director of FCTRY.
